The Story
The British Royal Navy’s deployment of proof tested gin was decided upon the basis that the spirit’s medicinal qualities would protect sailors from illness during long voyages on the high seas.
The famous sea shanty ‘What shall we do with a drunken sailor’ is a testament to some of the, how do we say?.. well, medicinal side-effects of navy strength gin. Try singing “slow sipper” after a few, if only to test the strength.
